Mission Statement

The primary mission and purpose of the Dundee Middle School Media Center is to support the curriculum and to meet the informational and personal interest needs of the students and the instructional and professional needs of the staff.

GENERAL INFORMATION
The middle school media center is located on the first floor of the middle school in the main hallway. There is a large collection of print and nonprint items. The nonprint items include: audiocassettes, DVDs, kits, and videocassettes. The media center also receives several magazines and two newspapers.
The media center has several Accelerated Reader titles and quizzes. The Dundee Public Library also assists the middle school with this program by helping students choose AR books from a list provided by the media center.

Computers are available for student and faculty use. Access to the following databases are available: InfoTrac, MEL, Grolier Online, and CareerCruising. Ask the media center paraprofessional or the media specialist for the passwords for home use.
The Distance Learning Lab (DLL) is located next to the media center. Computers are available for student and faculty use. Mrs. Myers is in charge of scheduling and monitoring the lab. A teacher's station and an LCD Projector are available for instructional use. The lab is also available for virtual field trips, videoconferencing, and other distance learning activities.

STAFF AND HOURS
The staff includes the media center paraprofessional, Kathy Myers, and the district media specialist, Anne Oxenrider. Mrs. Myers is available throughout the day. Miss O is available as needed by the staff.
The hours are: 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Friday.

CIRCULATION POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Books may be checked out for one week. They may be renewed. Magazines may be checked out at the discretion of the media center paraprofessional or the media specialist. No fines are assessed, but a student must pay for an item that he/she has lost.
