Dundee Elementary School Receives $2,500

with a 2024 SET SEG Education Excellence Award

Dundee, MI - Dundee Community Schools' Elementary School has been named one of ten 2024 Education Excellence Award winners, receiving a $2,500 grant for their program, "Peer to Peer Celebrations."

Each year, the SET SEG Foundation hosts the Education Excellence Awards in partnership with the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB), granting funds to public school programs that change lives and impact students' futures. In addition to the grant, award recipients receive an "Education Excellence Winner" road sign and commemorative trophy to proudly display their accomplishment in the community.

Peer to Peer Celebrations connects autistic students with their peers, allowing them to build relationships and learn from each other. This partnership in the classroom creates an environment that celebrates equality and friendship, with students spending time together in class, at recess, and during lunch. Students, ages four-years-old to fourth grade, learn social-emotional skills, empathy, and kindness.

"We're proud to recognize initiatives like Peer to Peer Celebrations," said Molly Mellema, SET SEG Foundation Executive Director. "These programs epitomize the essence of the Education Excellence Awards by imparting valuable life skills in the classroom, fostering positive community impact."

The SET SEG Foundation is the philanthropic arm of SET SEG, a risk management organization serving Michigan public schools.
