Mrs. Steffey and Mrs. Cairns' classes attended a virtual field trip live from Hopewell Culture National Historical Park “The Mountbuilders.” They visited mounds from the Hopewell ancient culture erected in North America some 2500 years ago and learned how these people were connected to the tribes that were in Michigan! BONUS they got a popcorn treat while watching!

The temporary office that will house our contractors during the upcoming construction in the elementary school is onsite!
A few major projects include air quality units being installed in all downstairs classrooms, the addition of much needed classrooms in our elementary school, and adding space to the elementary cafeteria. All of these projects were included in the bond that was approved in November.

DCS was recently awarded a grant through the State of Michigan to perform a security assessment of all four buildings in our district. We are partnering with the school safety planning experts at American Threat Assessment & Protection to conduct these assessments.
As part of this process, we are looking for volunteers to serve on a safety focus team. This group will meet before the safety assessment begins, participating in a guided discussion on the strengths and challenges of school safety planning at DCS. This group may be asked to provide ongoing feedback throughout the assessment process and may meet again following the assessment.
If you are interested in being a part of this focus group, please share your interest using the following link:
